18.06.2024, 17:00 – 19:00 Uhr | Abbe Center of Photonics, Albert-Einstein-Str. 6 in Jena, oder per Zoom

ZUM THEMAOptical Coherence Tomography (OCT) has transformed ophthalmology with its non-invasive imaging capabilities. This talk will trace OCT’s rapid evolution over three decades, highlighting its pivotal role in addressing diverse clinical demands within and beyond ophthalmic applications. We will delve into the latest advancements in clinical OCT devices and cast a forward-looking eye on cutting-edge research instruments. Join us to discover the innovative applications these developments are unlocking, heralding a new era in diagnostic imaging and intraoperative visualization.

DER REFERENT
Dr. Tilman Schmoll  obtained his PhD in 2011 from the Medical University of Vienna, where he conducted research on functional extensions of OCT. After a one-year postdoc in Vienna, he joined Carl Zeiss Meditec as a Scientist at their Dublin, California site. At ZEISS, he explored advanced imaging technologies and contributed to the commercialization of OCT Angiography and Swept Source OCT. In 2018, Dr. Schmoll established the ZEISS Lab at his alma mater, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to push the boundaries of OCT imaging. Currently, he leads the Smart Instruments and Robotics Advanced Development team in Oberkochen, focusing on the next generation of ophthalmic solutions.
